Kitchen Design

Fall is the time to plan and decide what home improvement projects and remodeling to do before or after the holidays.

Are you hoping to complete a remodeling project or another sort of home improvement project after the holiday season? If so, now is the time to get started, as many of the most common projects require a few months of lead time for design, planning, and then actual construction, including the time to ensure that the supplies you’ll need to complete are ordered and delivered in a timely fashion.

Times vary from project to project with bathroom remodels usually being the quickest projects to complete. A full bathroom remodel usually can take about 3 to 6 weeks, since the bulk of the project will deal with plumbing work, updating fixtures, and maximizing space. However, smaller, cosmetic changes such as a new vanity or bathroom hardware can be done in less than a week or two (and be ready before the holidays).

Kitchen projects, on the other hand, are a different story. The time frame for completion will depend heavily on the size and scope of your project.

Basic updates, like new cabinetry, won’t take as long to complete as a remodel that involves changing the floor plan – like the sink or stove.

Of course, with winter just around the corner here in the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia area, many homeowners also think about window replacement at the onset of fall. New windows not only give a home a fresh appearance, but also help with energy savings by eliminating drafts.  Window installations average about two to four hours per window, but the time frame can vary depending on the size of the windows being installed. Most of our window replacement projects take 2 days or less. The time frame for completing such a project will also depend on how many windows you will have installed, as well as how long it might take for the windows to arrive and if you need to custom order anything.  Now is the time to make a decision and start acting if you want to improve your home Call (301) 603-0625 or visit us at www.hammercontractors.com
