When you love to cook, having a small, cramped kitchen can take away from the joy you experience from one of your favorite hobbies. When José and Erika reached out to Hammer Design Build Remodel their chief concern was the lack of functionality in their original kitchen.
The small kitchen layout just didn’t provide the space the homeowners needed. It certainly did not provide the space that is necessary for someone who loves to cook. And for José, that was a top priority.
The original kitchen was very narrow. It lacked kitchen countertop space and good flow. It quickly felt cramped when family or friends were in the kitchen.
In order to achieve the kitchen design and flow the homeowners wanted Hammer’s designer, Rebecca, had to reconfigure the space. When the kitchen was redesigned it took over the existing powder room location, which required a new design as well.
“The entire space was reconfigured. Originally the kitchen was on the opposing side of the back of the house. Therefore, the entire rear of the house on the main floor was reconfigured,” explained Rebecca.
The newly remodeled kitchen provides much better functionality, in addition to an updated, beautiful aesthetic. The homeowners chose a gray ceramic tile with a glossy finish for the kitchen backsplash from TileBar.
A kitchen island was installed to accommodate guests, in addition to much more kitchen countertop space. A new hood was also installed which gives the homeowners better ventilation while cooking meals.
Design tip: Take your kitchen cabinetry to the ceiling to increase storage space without sacrificing other areas of your kitchen.
